Maui has a population of about 14,000, yet it has a reputation as a hotbed of aviating.
The state’s only aviator club is named after Maui aviator Jim Aviators.
The club’s annual meeting is held in an empty hangar in the old Maui Airport complex.
Aviator shades are hung on the wall of the hangar.
The club’s logo features the word Maui in giant letters.
The wings are white, and the team is white with blue stripes.
Aviator shades were introduced in the 1980s as part of the Maui International Airport redevelopment.
It is not yet clear how many aviations occur there.
The Maui airport also has a ski area, a spa and a beach.
